East Anglians go North
As it was Bank Holiday and we had a long weekend, we decided to venture out of our area and try a Rally in the Midlands. Set in the countryside in amongst young trees it was a beautiful site which offered both sun and shade. We left home in the mist and grey and arrived in hot sunshine to a welcoming cuppa from the rally officers who had prepared for all weathers with a gazebo erected for our use.
As the weekend went on, we had that rare commodity for this year, non stop sunshine. We were able to have coffee mornings and afternoon teas outside, and the gazebo came into its own in the evenings so we could congregate and chat when the sun went down. On Friday evening we had punch and nibbles and Saturday we were able to sit outside and eat. The first time this year for us. The Rally Officers devised a ‘Quite Interesting’ quiz and many arguments ensued over the answers on Sunday evening. There were also petanque and horseshoe throwing competitions and the Suntreckers 10 foot pool was filled for us to enjoy.
There were plenty of sites in the area to see and several members went off on their bikes or walked to enjoy the local attractions and the local pub.
We had a brilliant time and thank the ‘Midlanders’ for making us welcome and we will certainly visit this rally again.
